Thinking of financing your home in CALIFORNIA?

When purchasing a home, applying for financing is demanding for many people, but it doesn't have to be. I've got great connections to several lending companies in the CALIFORNIA area, and they've helped me realize a few things that make the loan application process a breeze.

1 – Compose a list of questions regarding your loan program

If you find that you don't thoroughly understand the pros and cons of all the different loan programs, be sure to bring a list of questions with you. At times, it can be a challenge to know the distinctions between fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my trusted lenders will be able to assist you in understanding the advantages and disadvantages of both programs.

2 – Determine when you want to lock

When you lock in a rate, it signifies that a mortgage lender commits to the mortgage interest rates for the loan – typically at the time the loan application is received. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate anytime between the loan application day and issuance of closing documents. Those who prefer to float conclude interest rates will decline in the near future. Click here to see the outlook for the next 90 days of interest rates.

3 – Determine if you want to pay additional points to reduce your rate

Normally you can opt to pay additional points to lower the rate of your loan. Every point is 1 percent of the mortgage loan and is payable in cash at the time of closing. If you're undecided as to whether or not buying points is the best option for you, click here to use our points calculator.

4 – Gather your paperwork

Getting a mortgage loan requires a lot of paperwork, so you should take some time to get all your documentation together. Click here to see normal information that goes on a loan application.
